JEE ADVANCED 2023 ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

JEE Advanced is a national-level entrance exam through which students get admission to undergraduate Engineering, Science, and Architecture courses in 23 IITs. JEE Advanced 2023 application forms will be released online on the official website as per the schedule released.

JEE Advanced 2023 Eligibility Criteria                                

The eligibility criteria for JEE Advanced is released every year by the NTA on its official website. This eligibility criterion has all the conditions and guidelines for the candidates. Listed below is the JEE Advanced 2023 eligibility criteria-

·         Candidates who score amongst the top 250000 ranks in JEE Main 2023 are qualified to apply for the JEE Advanced 2023 exam.

·         Candidates must have a score of a minimum of 75 percent marks in tier class 12th board exams. For reserved categories, the minimum score is 65 percent.

·         Candidates can only give the JEE Advanced exam twice in consecutive years. This rule holds irrespective of them failing or passing the exam.

·         Nationality- candidates who are foreign nationals, OCIs – Overseas Citizen of India, PIO- Person of Indian Origin, and Citizen of India can appear for the JEE Advanced 2023 exam. However, for foreign candidates, there are certain conditions set aside by the NTA.

 Age Limit

Candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 1997. Five years of age relaxation is given to SC, ST, and PwD candidates, i.e., these candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 1992.

 Number of Attempts

A candidate can attempt JEE (Advanced) a maximum of two times in two consecutive years.

 

Eligilibility Student for JEE Advanced 2023

Eligibility Based on Class 12th Board Exams or Other Equivalent Exams

·         Before appearing for the JEE Advanced 2023 exam, candidates should have cleared their class 12th board exams or other equivalent exams. For JEE Advanced 2023, candidates who had appeared in the class 12th exams or other equivalent exams in or before 2020 are not eligible to appear for the JEE Advanced exam.

·         NTA considers the given five subjects to calculate the cut off marks for class 12th board exams- mathematics, physics, chemistry, optional language, and elective subject.

·         In case the total marks scored in any of the subjects mentioned above are not out of 100, then while calculating the aggregate percentage, the total marks scored will be scaled up and down to 100.

·         In case a candidate appears in the class 12th board exams twice, then out of the two results, his best performance will be considered for the JEE Advanced 2023 exam.

·         In case the examination board of class 12th declares the results late, the candidates are eligible to appear for the JEE Advanced 2023 exam after meeting all the JEE Advanced 2023 criteria.

·         In case a candidate’s class 12th board result is withheld by the concerned examination body, the candidate will not be allowed to appear for the JEE Advanced 2023 exam.

JEE Advanced 2023 Eligibility for Foreign Students

Candidates who are foreign nationals have a different set of JEE Advanced 2023 eligibility criteria. Those candidates who are not citizens of India or their parents are not of Indian origin are considered foreign nationals. Additionally, candidates who do not belong to the OCI/PIO category are also included in the category of foreign nationals.

NTA lists down the following guidelines for foreign nations wishing to appear in the JEE Advanced exam-

·         Foreign nationals are not provided with any reservation under any category as directed by the GOI.

·         Foreign nationals should have completed their 10+2 level education at the time of applying for the JEE Advanced 2023 exam.

·         Foreign nationals studying in India and having completed their class 12th boards with the required percentage will appear for the JEE Advanced exam under the OPEN category.

·         Foreign nationals must provide identity proof of both their parents.

·         Foreign candidates get a total of 10 percent of the total seats in the JEE Advanced course.

Cut Off Marks in JEE Advanced

JEE Advanced Cut Off will be released after the conduct of the exam. JEE Advanced cut off refers to the minimum marks that candidates should attain to get admission to IITs. The JEE Advanced exam authorities will release two sets of cut offs – admission cutoff and qualifying cutoffs. Here are various factors that determine the cut off score of JEE Advanced:

Question 2. Can we repeat JEE Advanced?
Answer. Yes, candidates can apply for JEE Advanced exam twice consecutively from the year when they are in 12th standard.
