
NEET UG 2023: Eligibility Criteria for OCI Candidates Revised, now eligible for all NRI seats
The National Testing Agency has released an important notice for the National Eligibility Entrance Test aspirants for those belongs to the OCI category. OCI candidate’s medical aspirants can now apply to admission to all UG medical colleges in India.
An overseas citizen of India will be eligible for admission to the undergraduate medical/dental/Siddha/homeopathy programmers in India. Subjects to the rules and regulations issued from time-to-time by the respective regulatory bodies or counselling Authorities.
OCI cardholders were earlier allowed for admission against a Non-Resident Indian (NRI) seat or an Extra seat only. OCI candidates have the same rights as NRI candidates when it comes to appearing for entrance exams.
The latest order comes after the Supreme Court’s judgment in a NEET exam related case. The previous plan for OCI students provided in the NEET UG 2023 information notification that these candidates to be treated as foreigners. And the OCI candidates were not qualified for seats reserved for Indian citizens including paid deemed colleges seats.
